About us:
My husband and I own about 4 acres south of Beavercreek, OH, where we raise our 7 children. We have definitely fallen in love with the Mini/Toy Aussie breeds and look forward to more litters in the future. Our puppies have the amazing opportunity to be loved on by lots of young children, as well as many other people and animals. They also enjoy a variety of textures, smells, sounds, and sights that accompany life with a large family and will help them adapt quickly to a variety of lifestyles. Our adult dogs are around 15 lbs., which makes them great for an apartment, easy for children to care for, and equally fun on a larger property.
Mini Australian Shepherds:
Mini Aussies are great companions for adults, children, and other pets, especially if socialized as a puppy. They are affectionate, kindhearted, and incredibly smart, and energetic. The character and temperament of the Miniature Australian Shepherd is that of a herding dog...hard worker, confident, extremely trainable. Most Aussies do not adapt well to a sedentary lifestyle. If you like to come home from work and just plop on the couch with the remote, this is not your breed. If you are looking for a dog that has a high intelligence level and will be an interactive "partner" in your life, that is the Aussie. Many Aussies live on farms or ranches and thrive on the mental and physical stimulation of helping with morning chores. However, there are a also a great number that live in the city. No matter where you live; your Aussie will be thrilled to live with you. They thrive on mental stimulation and need social interaction with their owners. Mini Aussies make excellent house dogs with an appropriate amount of exercise. The energy level of the dogs in the puppy's pedigree will be a good clue as to the energy level your puppy will have. This varies from bloodlines to bloodlines. Be sure you discuss the energy level of the dogs from the breeder where you purchase your puppy.
The Mini Australian Shepherd requires relatively little grooming, but a thorough combing is required when shedding. Bathe only when necessary. Miniature Australian Shepherds can tolerate warm or cool climates, but often live indoors to help with their need for socialization.
Mini Aussies are fun to train because they learn quickly and easily. Aussies are unusually eager to please and adept at a wide variety of sports and games, such as herding, catching frisbees, and agility competitions.
